Deep Tissue Massage in Windsor, CO
Targeted, Intentional Work for Chronic Tension, Pain & Restricted Movement
Deep tissue massage shouldn’t just mean harder pressure.
At True Therapeutics in Windsor, Colorado, deep tissue massage is intentional, focused bodywork designed to address deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue when those tissues are contributing to pain, tension or restricted movement.
We don’t force our way into tight tissue. We work slowly, allowing the superficial layers to soften before progressing deeper. When deeper pressure is appropriate, we use it with purpose.
The goal isn’t simply to make a massage feel intense. The goal is to create meaningful change in how your body feels and moves.
Our Approach to Deep Tissue Massage
Every session begins with what is happening in your body that day.
Where are you hurting? What movements feel restricted? What keeps tightening back up? Is the area you’re feeling actually the area that needs the most attention? Your therapist may assess movement, tissue tension and patterns throughout the body before and during your session.
From there, we may combine:
• Slow, progressive deep tissue massage
• Myofascial techniques
• Neuromuscular and trigger point work
• Compression and targeted muscle work
• Cupping when appropriate
• Stretching and mobility techniques
• Focused work to surrounding and connected areas
Sometimes lighter work is appropriate. Sometimes deeper work is necessary.
We use both.
Why Doesn’t True Therapeutics Just Work Where It Hurts?
Because the place you feel pain isn’t always the only area involved.
Persistent tension between the shoulder blades may also involve the chest, shoulders or neck. Low back discomfort may be influenced by the hips, glutes or surrounding musculature. Recurring neck tension may involve the shoulders, upper back or jaw.
Instead of spending an entire session repeatedly attacking one painful spot, we look at the larger pattern and determine where focused work may be most useful. That’s what makes our deep tissue massage therapeutic rather than simply deep
Deep tissue massage may be appropriate for people experiencing:
• Chronic muscle tension
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Tightness between the shoulder blades
• Low back discomfort
• Hip and glute tension
• Muscle soreness from training or repetitive activity
• Restricted movement or mobility
• Persistent muscular knots and trigger points
• Overuse from work, sports or exercise
• Bodies that simply need more focused pressure than a traditional relaxation massage provides
You don’t have to be injured to benefit from deeper therapeutic work. Many of our clients come in because their bodies feel chronically tight, overworked or restricted.
Is Deep Tissue Massage Supposed to Hurt?
Deep tissue massage can feel intense, but more pain does not automatically mean better results.
There is a difference between productive intensity and your body bracing against pressure.
We communicate with you throughout the session and adjust depth based on your tissue, your goals and your tolerance. We want enough pressure to work effectively without creating unnecessary guarding.
And if an area needs deeper work, we aren’t afraid to go there.
Deep Tissue vs. Swedish Massage
The biggest difference isn’t simply pressure.
Swedish massage generally emphasizes relaxation, flowing strokes and overall nervous-system downshifting.
Deep tissue massage is typically more targeted. Your therapist may spend significantly more time working through a specific area, muscle group or movement restriction.
At True Therapeutics, the two aren’t completely separate worlds. A therapeutic session may begin slowly and calmingly and progress into very focused, deeper work as your tissues respond.
Your body determines the session more than the service name does.
Deep Tissue Massage for Neck & Shoulder Tension
Neck and shoulder tension is one of the most common reasons people seek therapeutic massage.
Long hours at a computer, repetitive work, training, stress and habitual movement patterns can all contribute to muscles that feel persistently tight or overworked.
Rather than repeatedly digging into the upper traps, we may also work through the chest, shoulder girdle, upper back, muscles surrounding the shoulder blade and other areas contributing to the pattern.
Deep Tissue Massage for Low Back & Hip Tension
Low back discomfort doesn’t exist in isolation. Depending on what we find, a session may include focused work through the glutes, deep hip rotators, lateral hip, quadratus lumborum, spinal musculature and surrounding tissues.
The intention is to address the areas that feel tight while also looking at the muscular relationships surrounding the low back and pelvis.
Deep Tissue Massage for Active Bodies
You don’t have to be a competitive athlete to need sports-focused bodywork.
Strength training, running, cycling, golf, hiking, repetitive work and active lifestyles can all create muscular fatigue and restriction.
Deep tissue massage can be incorporated into a recovery plan to address overworked areas, maintain mobility and help you feel better between workouts and activities.
How Long Should I Book?
For focused therapeutic work, we often recommend 90 minutes.
A 60-minute session can be effective when you have one primary area you’d like addressed. But when several regions are involved, 90 minutes gives your therapist more time to work progressively without rushing through the body.
Your therapist can help determine the best session length based on your goals.
